Red Bull Racing Team

In the early days of Red Bull Racing Team, we were clearing out cobwebs in a vacated race shop and focused on booking hotel rooms and getting to the track. But four short years later, here we are competing against the elite organizations in America's premier form of motorsports.

Red Bull Racing CarTime flies when you're getting faster and faster, especially when you started from scratch. Red Bull's commitment to motorsports and our unconditional love of competition got us to this point. We have two of NASCAR's finest young drivers and a team that roared from mid-pack to the winner's circle and into championship contention. In the first three seasons, Red Bull Racing Team went from NASCAR newborn to leading laps, winning a race and making the Chase. As owner and operator of a two-car Sprint Cup Series team, Red Bull Racing Team is an ambitious effort that shows the commitment to American motorsports and dedication to the Red Bull brand. For our geeks, engineering means everything. For the greasers, so does the simple task of installing a steering wheel. They all work together, and the combined effort produces as much speed and power as we can fit into a single frame. Indeed, our minds are tuned to getting the Red Bull Toyotas over the finish line first.

Ex-Champ Car driver A. J. Allmendinger began the #84 history for Red Bull Racing Team by qualifying for his first Sprint Cup event at Bristol Motor Speedway, after not qualifying for the first 4 races. Despite some good qualifying results in 2007, the team struggled with its rookie driver. However, more seat time in the Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series paid off for the team, resulting in their first ever top-20 finish at the Sharp AQUOS 500, starting and finishing 18th. The #84 team finished 43rd in the final owner's points standings. In 2008, Allmendinger failed to make the first three races of 2008 and was replaced by Mike Skinner on a temporary basis starting with the spring Atlanta race.

Red Bull Racing RideAllmendinger returned at the Aaron's 499 at Talladega with a new silver paint scheme, and went to victory in the Sprint Showdown two weeks later, making him eligible for the All-Star Race. Allmendinger also recorded a 10th-place finish at the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. With A.J.'s boost in confidence, and a new crew chief in Jimmy Elledge, the 84 team finally gained a guaranteed starting spot for the next race after the Centurion Boats at the Glen on August 10, 2008 where Allmendinger finished 11th. Despite the success, it was announced late in the season that Allmendinger would not be returning to Red Bull Racing for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, and it was soon revealed that he would not finish the year out for RBRT. In his final race with Red Bull, Allmendinger posted his and the 84 team's best finish, a 9th place at the Camping World RV 400 at Kansas Speedway. Scott Speed and Mike Skinner finished the season in the #84. Starting in 2009 Scott Speed became the full-time driver. The team switched to the #82. Thru mid-season of 2009, Red Bull announced that car #82 would be sponsored by its new product, Red Bull Cola.

To be exact, Speed was formerly Scuderia Toro Rosso's full-time driver in Formula One, before becoming a free agent after leaving in mid-2007. After being a free agent for almost 2 years, he finally enters the #82, as his contract with Red Bull continues to be valid. His former team was also owned by Red Bull. In 2009, the team finished 36th in owner's points, the first car not guaranteed starts for the first five races of 2010. However, Ken Schrader drove for the team in the Budweiser Shootout due to him being a former Shootout winner.
